Concealing Imperfections

I'm often asked about ways to cover up zits, pimples, bruises, 'love bites', and anything else that shows up on the face.  It honestly all goes back to color theory- something we learned in elementary school.  Remember those primary colors: red, blue, and yellow; and the complimentary colors: orange, purple, and green. Basically we want to use a concealer that counterattacks the color of our unfortunate imperfections. The key is to look at opposite colors on the color wheel.

1) If you have a lot of red blemishes or zits, use a green concealer.
2) If you have a nasty blue bruise, use a beige or golden concealer. This is usually the same color we use under our eyes to cover up those horrible dark circles that make us look like we haven't slept for weeks.
3) A yellow bruise, guess what? Use a purple concealer.

I would also suggest putting on foundation on prior to putting your concealer on.  This way the foundation somewhat covers the disaster zone on your face and holds the concealer on better, so it doesn't wear off as easy.  If you're someone who doesn't wear foundation, I suggest using a moisturizers or using a primer prior to concealing the imperfections.  Key to concealing would be blending the concealer in. I prefer using my fingers to put on concealer as the natural oils in your fingertips help blend better than a brush.  Like always finish with a pressed powder to keep your makeup lasting longer.

Suggestions for concealers:

I will later post blogs that will discuss concealers, moisturizers, and primers.  Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and other issues you would like me to research and discuss.
